I signed up for the 2011 Corporate Challenge last year, just after a few months of my new lifestyle. I was still weighing in at a hefty 243 pounds, and running wasn't really a word that was frequently used in my vocabulary yet. I decided I would still take up the challenge, and at least run what I could and walk the rest. It would be a milestone none the less. I wound up doing it in 44:30. Not too bad, but not good either.

Fast forward almost a year to yesterday. Running has become more of a commonly used word for me. I'm still not what I would consider a "runner", but I'm definitely better. I am down another 48ish pounds since then. I set myself a time of 35 minutes, which would be a 10 minute mile pace (it's a 3.5 mile race). I didn't know if I could hit that, but I would be happy if I could. Well, I'm proud to say I did it in 33:23! I beat my goal pace by a nice margin! This makes me excited to set myself a new goal of under 30 minutes for the 2013 race! Oh, and I did it in my Vibram Five Finger shoes, something that most people thought I was crazy for doing!
