I figured MFP should know the answer to this.

How do you get that white sweat stain out of a ball cap?

Soaking in vinegar is a good way to remove stains. For an oil-based stain I would try a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Or possibly dish soap, since it's meant to cut grease.

Spray and wash and throw it in the laundry. When you get it out re-shape it over an inverted bowl and air dry. They do make a handy dandy ball cap thingy that you can buy for washing and drying them.

I say leave it there. Shows that the cap is more than just keeping the sun out of your eyes.
