Pasta and grains weight/cals cooked/uncooked

Hi guys.

I have noticed that pasta and grains have different cal stats when they are cooked and when they are uncooked. Like, 100 gram of uncooked pasta has around 300 cals, but 100 gram cooked pasta has around 160. The same thing with grains...

Is it only because they soak up water when cooked so the weight changes, cause 100 gram uncooked pasta is more than 100 gram cooked pasta, or does it has to do with something else?

If i have answered my own question, ignore this thread. :-)

It's just the weight of the water.
Stuff like that you are better off weighing raw, as the cooked weight can vary depending how long you cook it and how much it soaks up .

As water contains 0 calories its the extra weight the water adds. You should weigh it before cooking, just check it when you enter it into your diary because some of the entries are for cooked weight of the pasta/grains which confuses me completely when trying to work out how much to actually cook!
