gaining muscle?? I haven't lost anything since joining which sucks.. I have definitely been trying too.. What exercise do you do? Do you go to a gym? I just got my gym to do a better exercise program for me as the one i was doing wasn't working.. that might be worth doing?

    1. Muscle gain.
    2. Water retention
    3. Sodium levels?

This will lead to an increase in "scale weight" which is NOT fat. Therefore you should not worry about it. Muscle burns fat, so you're actually in better shape 1lb "heavier" than you were before. :)

No way it is muscle. Muscle is not that easy to gain. However, it could be water retention from the muscles repairing themselves due to the new workout routine. Your body is just adjusting to your new program. :) Keep with it!

are you getting enough sleep ? drinking enough water ? Try changing up your exercise routine often so your body doesn't get bored. That's all I can think of ..

Maybe it's too soon, i'll say give yourself a full month then check again before you get discourage. :)

Thanks for the replies....I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes 4 times a week. I also lift weights but Im not as consistent with that as I am with running. I am 33 now but in my 20s, I remmeber weight just fell off.

From one woman to another... it sucks to be female sometimes. :) Don't fret too much about the weight fluctuations. Here's something that may help ease your mind:

It is not simple as eating right and working out. It takes your body time to adjust to what you are doing and stressing out bout it will only frustrate you make you overeat and hold on to weight. Do the right things, eat right, work out, sleep well and it will happen. I just had a 5 week plateau its frustrating but I didnt give up or overeat.

Hang in there, btw the forums are full of ****. Find some fit friends that are willing to help and go from there.

dont eat or drink anything late at night. and try just walking everyday. i use to go to the gym like you and i felt like it wasnt coming off like i had hoped. but the last 2 weeks i've been walking to and from work (i have that luxury to do that) and have lost 5lbs. it is a 2.5 mile walk each way so Im getting 5 miles a day but i feel like this is the 1st time i've seen such a difference in the first couple weeks of dieting. i've also really been strict with my calories as well. but i would suggest casual walking daily!
