Single Mom facing some hard truths

Hello everyone! I am a single mom who was recommended to this site by a nutritionist. In 2006 before I had my first child at age 34, I was 180 pounds. I know that probably sounds horrible but I was pretty curvy and actually felt very foxy. After I had my DD, I dropped back to 180 immediately but within 6 months the weight started to slowly creep on. I honestly have no idea how I have gotten to the point where I weigh 70 lbs more than I used to. To hear my physician refer to me as morbidly obese was such a shocker because I am in good health otherwise and would never think to describe myself as such. All my vitals are perfect--no problems with cholesterol, sugar, HBP, thyroid, etc.--so I have always been convinced that I was better off than most.
Yet here I am. I have tried some other well known weight loss programs with no success because they simply do not fit into my life style. Part of my problem is that while my weight has soared, so has my career. I am in a very demanding position which requires me to work long hours. I have never been a good cook and now I don't even have the energy to bother with preparing a meal when I get home, so my DD & I often would eat out, order in, or have something simple like spaghetti or a frozen meal. I think I had pretty much given up and decided that I could not obsess over watching what I eat because I had other priorities.
But I have had to face some hard truths. My body is going to eventually start to rebel. No person of my height is meant to weight this much. I also realized that there are no pictures anywhere of me and my 5 yr old daughter together because I hate the way I look and avoid all cameras. That's incredibly sad. The main reason I am doing this, however, is because I want to be around to raise my DD and do fun things with her. We are scheduled to go to Disney World later this summer and I had already been dreading worrying whether I fit into certain rides comfortably, tiring on the long walks, etc. I have been reading the success stories here and I know that I can really make a difference in my weight and health, so here I go. I've tried MFP for a week and it seems to give me the flexibility and accountability I need and I am praying I can stick with it.
Thanks if you've read this far; I know it was a lot. Please feel free to add me as a friend.

Hi there,
Great first post, welcome to the site!
Good luck0 -
Wow I understand what you are saying and going through. It creeps up so easily you don't even notice it. You can do this it is possible just look around on here plenty of people have lost over 100 pds. in a very short period of time. It will take hard work and more sweat and tears than you can imagine, but you can and must do it for yourself and your daughter. Keep her pictured in your mind and realize you are worth it. Good luck on the beginning of your journey and congrats on taking the first step to reclaiming your life  ((Hugs!!))0
