Best heart rate monitor watch for calorie accuracy?

Been researching this for a while and I'm pretty much exhausted. I'm looking for a heartrate monitor watch with chest strap. GPS is a bonus but not a must. The most important thing is that it have the most accurate calorie measuring compared with other watches. Any suggestions?

I had the same post a couple weeks ago. I was checking out monitors and wanted some other opinions on them, after reading all the feedback I got, I ended up buying the polar FT4 and I LOVE it. Reasonably priced, easy to use, seems to be pretty accurate.

I'm a fan of Polar. I have the FT4 and I love it, for the same reasons that the pp mentioned!

Generally calorie burn is only accurate for constant aerobic activity, such as walking, running, biking etc. It is not accurate for stop start activities such as weightlifting.

Thanks for the info. Im going to be using it mostly for all day biking and 10 k runs. I just want to make sure I dont buy something that overestimates my calories burned by too much. Was looking at the Polar FT40 or the Garmin 410 if anyone can recommend either of those or a better alternative.
  • I have the Ft4. Works well. Just FYI though the calorie estimator on this site is very accurate. At least for things like running. It is off by less than 5% for me.
