So awesome! Thank you for the post. You look so happy too :)

Barefoot running is not for me but I have a lot of respect for those that do. Congrats on your run!

Barefoot running is what many South African children did when I grew up. I remember having athletic meets in primary school where nobody but the teachers wore shoes. Remember Zola Budd?

Once you find out what works for that blister, let me know or post LOL. I just discovered one yesterday between my big toe and second toe. Gonna try some BodyGlide tonight :/

Congrats on your run! I've only run near my house like a block and it was funnnn! Hoping to get some Vibrams to help. I run trail most of the time. :/

I think the blister was from pushing off. I'm trying to do Ken Bob's technique of lifting the toes up as I land. My toes are still pretty soft and plump. I hope more lifting and less pushing fixes it long with a little time and toughening.

You might want to try doing to toe spreading exercises. Hopefully the BodyGlide helps it heal.

I do remember Zola Budd. The barefoot wonder. I read about the South Africans and how they don't allow shoes a much later age. Nike et al have everyone convinced that step one in learning how to run is to go to the running shoe store.

I think the shoe revolution has taken over there too (I now live in the US). But there is still a big barefoot culture there. It is so part of being a child, not wearing shoes.

Zola Budd has just finished her first Comrades Marathon. The longest one in South Africa and perhaps the world. It is also the oldest Ultramarathon on the world apparently. She did the 96km run just over 8 hours and ran into the stadium with Bruce Fordyce, another South African who has won the race 9 times in the 1980s.

I have been trying to change my running form for a few weeks now, using the Chi running techniques. I think Bob's are the same. Just implemented the pelvic rotation into my form last night actually, I was not moving properly and low and behold...no more lower back pain when I ran last night

I was thinking about reading Chi running to just to get a little more perspective. It good right? Ken Bob mentions it as well and says it's very similar to his method except with the body lean. Ken Bob has a pelvic lean but an upright posture vs. the full body lean of Chi and Pose.

I'm glad your back feels better!

Yes it's a full body lean however I find that I still carry my upper body pretty upright because it takes the pressure off of my lower back. I ran 2.5 miles on Sat, first time in my entire life I have run that far without stopping..... changing my form has REALLY been helping.... :)
