Thinking about Starting to Eat Red Meat

I gave up beef and pork 20 years ago, not for any religious reasons or because of love of animals, it was just something I did in junior high school and actually stuck to it. It has been so long that I don't remember what beef or pork tastes likes. Now that I am dieting and trying to eat right, I have a really hard time getting enough protein without using whey. I eat mostly poultry. I'm fine with a thigh, but that's not enough protein. I do eat fish on occasion, but I'm not a huge fan and its pricey. I don't think I will ever eat pork again, but have been debating for quite some time giving beef a shot again. I know beans is a good source of protein, but its also high in carbs and then you have flatulence to worry about as well. Any suggestions on how I can introduce beef to my diet.

What kind of suggestions are you looking for? Frequency? Cuts of meat? Recipes?
The one thing I would say is to definitely reintroduce it slowly, maybe one portion per week, since beef is a little harder to digest than poultry. Also, go for leaner cuts as beef can be quite high in fat.0 -
Have a bacon butty for breakfast and never look back0

Our animal friends are quite tasty. Definitely give it another try!0

I'm just scared of how my body will react, but I don't really see any other way to solve my protein problem. You can't put whey in everything. And to be honest I don't know where to start. I have tried to cook a steak for my husband before, he ate it even though I really didn't know what I was doing.0

Mmmmmmmmmm bacon butty - good suggestion! That would be a most pleasant re-introduction!
Beef-wise - would suggest going for a small sirloin steak or a filet mignon (neither cut has much fat in terms of beef products, enough to keep the meat moist and add some flavour) cooked medium rare so it's a bit pink, tender and juicy and serve with a big greek salad0 -
Buy meat from a place with an actual meat counter, like a butcher shop. The person working the counter should be able to give you tips on how to cook the different cuts.
In general, I tend to go for the thinner cuts, throw them on a grill pan at high heat, pour on a little soy sauce and lot of garlic powder, and cook on each side until just pinkish in the middle. Another good thing you can do is get sliced beef and stir fry with mixed veggies for either an Asian-style stir fry or with peppers and onions for fajitas.
Since you've been eating poultry, I don't expect your body would have particular problems with the reintroduction of red meat. Maybe just take it slowly at first.0
