Body for Life! Basically five to six meals a day. Balanced diet of protein and carbs. Theres a book and website! I just started it last week. So far I've lost four pounds. So not much inspiration yet, but the books are awesome and have some good success stories.

It is not good to look at losing weight as a diet plan. What ever way you decide to go whether it be -

Low fat / low calorie / higher carb
High Fat and Protein / lower carb
    Lower Fat / Lower carb

You have to choose a plan that YOU can stick with for life and look at it like a lifestyle change.

I began my low carb journey in 2003 and lost 98 pounds. I looked great, felt great, but thought I could go back to my old way of eating (starving myself and eating low fat) - I gained 60 pounds back over the course of 6 months.

I started the low carb journey again December 2008 and it clicked for me that this is my lifestyle change and it is forever. I have lost 41 pounds since December.

I am comfortable with eating natural fats, protein and tons of veggies with some fruit thrown in here and there as desserts when I would like to have it.

I am giving up grains because they make me sick.

Right now I am doing Atkins, BUT I am going stricter and starting a plan called The Primal Blueprint. I am now waiting for the book to arrive.

I love Bill Phillips' attitude and the sensible plan that he has set forth. The Zone Diet is another one that follows essentially the same lifestyle changes. I've studied both of these, and others, and, while I haven't actually read Jillian's books, from what I've heard and read on her website, she essentially follows the same basic food plan/lifestyle changes.

My biggest piece of advice is to take 90 minutes and watch the video in my signature, by Dr. Robert Lustig--Sugar: The Bitter Truth. You won't regret it!

All the best on your journey!!

She said it! It's a lifestyle change - that's the only way you'll get the weight off the healthy way & keep it off! Good luck!

    Lets see ... I started off around 50/35/15. When I did P90X I shifted from 30/50/20 to 40/40/20 to 30/50/20. Then I went for 40/30/30 for about a month.

I'm starting maintenance on 30/50/20 with 50/30/20 on Mondays and Fridays but only for a month because I'm going for muscle right now ... then I'll shift into 40/40/20 and 30/50/20 for a month each. I still have yet to try 60/20/20 so I might try that afterward, who knows.

I increased calories when I stalled and ate all exercise calories. I think those were more important than my micronutrient levels though.

Whichever you pick, fit in 5 servings of veggies and eat every 2-3 hours. Those are pretty darn important too.

I'm not following a "plan", per se. There are foods I like, foods I don't, and needs I must meet so I've tailored my food choices to fall within my MFP goals. I've been fiddling with the calories, adjusting upwards, as I'm coming out of several years of starvation mode.

Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of thinking (like I did) that eating less and less = more weight loss. This only applies up to a certain point then it completely defeats the purpose. Make sure you eat what your body needs in order to function.

Body for Life is a lifestyle change. It teaches you how to fuel your body. I love it! Eating for Life is the cookbook, I highly recommend it! Also reading the actual "body for life" book is great. There is also a book written by a lady that lost weight on the body for life book. She wrote "body for life for women". her name is Pamela Peeke. It's good too. I know alot of people that have changed their life with these books and eating lifesyle!
