Hi everyone.
I found this website this morning and think it is just what I need. I want to track what I eat and keep my calorie intake under control.
I work 10 hour days and have not been exercising.
I saw a picture of myself the other day and was horrified.
A new day and a new start to reduce my weight.

Hi SLK....good luck on your journey towards a new lifestyle. I keep bringing up my weight-loss so far to people just because I felt pretty hopeless a few months ago and truly know how you all are feeling who are just starting this process. It seems SO daunting to lose a significant amount of weight. Well, I started my own journey back on September 4, 2007 at 270 lbs. Talk about daunting!!! I thought even getting under 200 lbs would take forever. Here I am now, as of Thursdays weigh-in, I was 209 (So close I can taste it, so to speak!! LOL). I can hardly even believe I have lost 61 lbs! I did it the slow and healthy way too. (no starving!!) For a long time I was eating around 1500-1600 calories a day. I have now lowered it to 1400-1500. I was losing anywhere from 2-4 lbs a week (3 being the average), but now that I have lost a lot, my body is slowing down a bit...which is fine! hehe Now, I seem to be losing 1-2 lbs a week. But to me, as long as the number keeps going down, I am successful!
Anyway, if I can do it, you definitely can! I just joined this site a few days ago to help me on my continuing journey towards my goal of 135. 61 down, 74 to go!! LOL
Something that has helped me significantly is that I don't view food as something to comfort me or something to gorge myself on...I see it as a fuel for my body. So, while I started this just watching calories, one thing has led to the next and now I focus on lower sodium, higher fiber (whole grains)and lean protein, lots of water, fruits and veggies, etc....just things that I know will fuel my body and keep me feeling satisfied. I always try new things and keep it interesting too, which definitely helps to keep you from getting bored. Trader Joes is great for that!!!
Good luck and let me know if you need anything!
