I have been lifting weights the last couple of weeks. (just started) and I'm thinking of starting the stronglifts 5x5 program. I'm also training for my first 5k that is in a few weeks (not very successful at that so far lol)... will the running interfere with the lifting? Is it ok to do both?

I lift and I'm starting to run.. and if anything, lifting has made my running better.
I have more endurance, and don't get tired easily.
I don't use the starting strength program specifically, so I can't say for sure it won't interfere.. but thats what my experience has been.0 -
I do both and I don't have any trouble.
I agree with dad106 also, I feel lifting improves my running and I also feel like running improves my lifting. It seems like I increase my weights on my running days.0
