TOM - What is the most it's made you gain?

I'm pretty sure all of us with periods notice weight fluctuations from water and whatnot. What is the very most you've seen your weight go up during your period? I'm curious, so chime in!

I think the most I've gained is about 5 pounds!

Nothing, it doesn't make me gain. It's the rest of the month that's the problem.

Really? You've never retained water on your period? You're super lucky.

The most I've gained is 5-8lbs. :noway: :grumble:
  • I'm so irregular, so I don't know what's going on with my periods have the time. For example, I haven't even had mine for like 4 months. But, I think the most it made me gain was 4 lbs maybe? But, it all goes away at the end of the week.

I generally seem to lose weight during TOM. I work out harder and try to take diuretics before I start because I know if I don't I'll gain 3 pounds in fluid and it's all in that area right below my belly button.

At 5 feet 8 and only 112 pounds, it is not surprising you have stopped your petiods. They do stop when you become too light for your body to function properly.

Yeah, I know. They were pretty irregular before that too. I'm trying to gain weight though so maybe they'll be a little more regulated in the future!

5-8 pounds and I literally walk around with those extra pounds days before, during, and a few days after my period. Totally sucks! :grumble: :frown:

Yikes, yes. Also could be PCOS or something else. If you're going that long without a period it's best to see a doctor.

I've seen my doctor. She said it's probably because I'm underweight...

I don't gain any if I keep my eating clean (ie: no processed foods, grains or sugars.)

Aww, good luck with the gain then! :) I hope you get back your regular periods, even though periods do suck.

I am surprised that my period doesn't effect the numbers on the scale more for me. Maybe a pound. I always feel heavier during, that's for sure.

Its hard to say whether it is TOM water weight, or the foods that I crave and EAT cause its TOM. I've probably gained as much as 7 lbs in a week of TOM when giving in* to nasty cravings. This last time it has made me not lose any weight. So whatever I lose after TOM (right now ish), then maybe some of that is what I retained.

This time it is easier for me bcause I am staying away from simple carbs, processed stuff, and sugar. The cravings aren't as bad and the cramps are hardly there.

5.3lbs this time! Usually its only 3-4 but its because I shot my sodium WAY up almost twice the amount I should :noway: and for two solid weeks in a row

Lucky I realized it and am back on track now!

I almost never had bloating before, but for some reason, the last two months, I gained about 5 lbs.

I'm weird, I drop at least 2pounds b4. So...I don't weigh at all that week just in case I c it go up n don't want to know (I'm a daily weigher) but try n b v good n most times its stayed down after. Took a while to work out this strategy!

Biggest single bump was 5lbs. Since then I've learned to tweak my sodium intake a few days before hand and up the water. Now it only dings me 1 or 2 lbs.

Mine are super irregular too (not even a teenager anymore, that was my doctor's excuse before), but I gain a LOT every time, usually 4-6 pounds, and I usually start gaining several days before. Quite confused, might suggest my dr to make a new statement about why I'm still not the same number of days between TOMs...
5'8 and 122 btw so it shouldn't be my weight.

I never gain during TOM but I do get bloated and gain 2+ during ovulation.
