Are children a deal breaker in a dating relationship?

What I mean is, for those of you that date and have children, do you find that the person you are dating gets frustrated or has even broke it off due to you putting your children first?

When I was single I had a situation ( I already mentioned this in the "Crazy Girls" thread) where I was dating a guy from another county. He asked me to go with him to a fishing tournament on the coast with like a days notice. When I told him I couldn't, because I had my son, he seemed understanding and went alone. Three days later, he stopped talking to me. Just vanished. Now perhaps he realized he wasn't as interested in me as he thought or whatnot, but I suspect it had to do with me not dropping everything and leaving my son with my parents to go with him. He'd expressed to me before that I had to work out a custody agreement with my ex husband so I could have more "free time".

So anyway, has anyone run into this?
