Did my weight loss stop my period?

So I just missed my period (it should have come a week ago) and I'm 100% sure I'm not pregnant, so is it just because of my weight loss? I've lost around 20 lbs in a month or two. I was eating a very calorie restrictive diet which I think might have also caused this. But I'm starting to increase the amount of food I eat. So will my period come back and about how long would it probably take? Also, is it possible that there will be any other long term effects of this?

In 2009 I lost 40 lbs in 2 months and it stopped my period for about 3 months. It wasn't until I plateaued with weight loss that my period returned. But all was fine in the end, I ended up pregnant the month after my period returned. LOL. So much for that weight lost. :P But unless you go several months without a cycle, I think you'll be alright. If you are concerned you can talk to your OBGYN about it.

It is very possible! Mine has been off by up to 2 weeks since I began in January. It is also a lot lighter.

I don't know if diet alone can cause it but I know extreme exercise can. Better see a doctor if it persists.
