Crossfit - anyone do it on their own?

Hey all!

I am interested in trying to add Crossfit into my workouts, but don't want to join a specific Crossfit gym. Does anyone do it on their own at their regular gym or at home?

TIA!

you can start here and do body weight stuff on your own.

For all the lifting and everything else its almost easier to do it at a gym since buying all the equipment yourself is expensive. Then you have to worry about pushing and motivating yourself as hard as you would go at the gym.

Crossfit is a good workout, I've been doing CF for 4 years. However the biggest thing is people doing the execises wrong and getting hurt. If you are inexperienced at weight training it may be worth it to join a CF gym just to learn the form.

I have done the WODs at a regular gym. It can be difficult if the gym doesn't have alot of free weights or room to move around.

    Thanks guys!

I'm an intermediate lifter and am familiar with a lot of the lifts already. I'm looking at some of the at home Cross Fit ideas and thinking I could do this in place of plyometrics (actually, they ARE plyometrics, just different from what I've been doing).

I'm a teacher and a mom and can't justify the cost of a CF box...and I don't want it to mess up my weight lifting. I just want to have something *extra* to look forward to. :)

If you are going to do your own programming, then stick to stuff you know. The Oly lifts and KBs are not something to "Try out" without help...
I'm a pretty big believer in putting weight overhead to build core stablity.

I've done some of the bodyweight workouts on my own, but I wouldn't do the other stuff by myself. Those gyms are crazy expensive, so I understand why you're asking. (I don't belong to one, either.)
