Cross-Fitness-Getting Started

I am really intrigued by Paleo Lifestyle, and after just a few days of eating the Paleo way, I cannot believe how much more energy I have. I do know that I need to start adding physical activity into my life though. I have a lot to lose, and I know the only way I will ever truly reach my goal, stay at goal, and truly become fit is with regular excercise. I am trying to get more information on cross-fit training, and wondering how to get started when you are as out of shape, and extremely overwieght (ok...obese) as I am. I need to be careful also of my back. So looking for ideas of how to gradualy get into this. Would also love to incorporate something my little 5 year old daughter can do with me as well if possible. Open to all ideas.

Have you looked into the local CrossFit Box's in your area? A lot of them are starting "CrossFit Kids" these days. My personal gym doesn't have it, but the kids up there have a play room and just about all spend the whole time doing squats and burpees anyway ;) Most of the gyms (I'll say gym instead of box because people get confused) I have been to have been amazing at helping people to gauge their workouts. When you are carrying a lot of extra weight around it is dificult to jump into a CrossFit workout, but when you scale it to a level that will still push you (but not kill you) it works really well. I started CrossFit several years ago and was probably about 60lbs or so over where my ideal weight would have been. It didn't take much time at all before I lost about 50 lbs and was periodically beating most everyone in the workouts... MOST everyone... The fact that you are starting it off by doing Paleo is really going to help you as well. I have been eating Paleo for about 6 months now and I love how I feel. I have so much more energy and don't feel like a bloated sack of crap all the time. Best of luck to you! If you ever have any questions about Paleo or CrossFit hit me up!
