Recording exercise done at the gym on MVP

Bonjour all. I have a question for people who are training at a gym- how do you add you exercise to MVP?! So far, I have only been able to add the running I do on a treadmill, but not the time spent on the X-trainer/eliptical and stepper machine. I have tried searching an array of different names for this equipment, but nothing's coming up! I'd like to have a good idea of how many calories I can eat back, because I knwo I'll over-estimate of left to my own devices!! Is anyone maybe not adding gym sessions to MVP and instead just totaling up the calories the machine says you burnt and eating back those instead?
And on a slight side note- if I'm lifting heavy weights (for a woman of 5 ft 2!) can I expect to burn calories? Any information on these matters would be much appreciated!!
