On average how many steps is one mile?
My good pedometer broke.
My cheapy pedometer only gives me the number of steps and I just walked 2587.
Thanks

that would depend on the person
I know there's 5280 feet per mile. You could measure a stride of yours, then divide 5280 by how many feet your stride is; that would give you how many steps you take to go a mile.0 -
The instructions that came with my pedometer said average 2500 steps is a mile.0

It is different based on your specific stride, but for a quick calculation, most people accept 2000 steps = 1 mile. So...
* 1,000 steps is a half mile
* 2,000 steps = 1 mile
* 3,000 steps = 1 and 1/2 mile
* 4,000 steps = 2 miles
* 10,000 steps = 5 miles
Hope this helps!0 -
create a starting line, then take 10 "normal" steps like you would when on your walk, mark your endpoint. measure the distance and divide by 10. That gives you an average length of one of your steps. 5280 divided by the average you calculated would give you the approximate number of steps in a mile.0
