Do I have to work out EVERY single day?

I decided to take a well deserved pyjamas and star trek marathon day and to skip todays workout. I've been working out an average of 60 minutes a day for 7 days a week without taking a break even on days when I didn't feel like moving. Is it okay to just take a day or will it throw my week off? I figure that if I stick to my diet today and don't add evil snacking to the equation I should be fine, right? My husband takes a day off every week and he calls it his 'muscle recovery' day. Should I be doing the same (and not feel guilty about it)?

I exercise 5 days a week and take weekends off, seems to be okay for me.0

I always take Sundays off. When I was training for my 1/2 ironman (12-15 hrs a week) I would take 1-2 days off. Sometimes if you are really fatiqued, take 2 days off in a row & you will be able to push harder when you come back. Good luck & enjoy the star trek marathon.0

It's perfectly fine to have a set day on which you rest, so that your muscles can recover. Some people call it their "cheat day", because they don't excersise, and they allow themselves to have whatever they want to eat. This makes the rest of the week easier because you know you will be rewarded in the end. So yes, if you want to make this day your cheat day, go for it. Especially if you havn't had a day off yet. Just make sure not to get into the habit of making excuses for yourself not to excersise (too tired, too busy, etc), that's when things get ugly.
Have fun!

You should definitely be taking at least one day off a week. Your body needs a day to rest and recover, you shouldn't feel guilty, its very necessary to do this. Enjoy star trek

You should always take a day or two off. Your body needs to recover from your workouts. I always try to take one full day off and one "active rest day" meaning I just walk for 30 minutes or so. Nothing too strenuous for my active rest day. Just count today as your recovery day. Enjoy! PJs, a hot tea latte, and movies sounds good.....0

Hello! You actually should be taking a day off every 3rd day of exercising. Your muscles need to repair themselves and they cannot do that while they are being used. The muscle repair actually burns more calories and the "repair" on the muscles is actually what causes the muscle to grow larger. You are actually doing yourself a favor by taking the day off.
Have a great day.0 -
