Hi,
My name is Jenn. I just joined MFP yesterday. I have been going to the gym 5 days a week since April and the scale hasn't changed much. I feel stronger and can see more muscle definition allover my body. But, its time for the scale to reflect my efforts at the gym. One of my best friends told me about this site. And I am really glad that she did. I LOVE the food journals. Any time that I tried to lose weight in the past, it was because I was keeping a food journal. So, its time to do that again. There is nothing more right in your face than seeing your caloric intake daily on my 15" laptop monitor. :ohwell:
I am now ready to give it all of my attention again. I have read a few of the posts and everyone seems very supportive. And that's great. I look forward to getting great advice and giving some as well.

Hi Jenn, and welcome to THE best site on the web! :flowerforyou:
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:0 -
Thanks for the advice BrenNew. Yes, water is the key. I am looking forward the using the site to its fullest. And the support can be the BEST thing.
Since I go to the gym 5 days a week, I don't want to leave too many calories each day. I am pretty much contradicting myself if I do. I need to get a list of good for you snacks to have as a snack after dinner. I am sure there is a thread on here for that.
Congrats on your weight-loss.0 -

Thanks for the congrats!
As far as threads for good for you snacks goes, if you can't find one, start another! Everyone is so helpful, they'll immediately give you all their suggestions.
As for my snacks, I have a peach, apple, or orange, depending on the season, and a Special K bar during the day. And then at night, I save the best for last, and make sure to have enough numbers left to have some Edy's slow churned, no sugar added Cookie Dough icecream! I'm a real icecream fanatic, and I can't tell the difference from the "real" thing!
I USED to LOVE the Fiber One bars, and they were REALLY filling and tasty, but their "after effects" made my husband ban me from buying them anymore! :laugh:0
