Metabolic syndrome/Anaemia and High Intensity Exercise

For those who have metabolic syndrome and or anaemia what experience do you have with this affecting you during high intensity exercise? About 25 to 30 minutes into my aero boxing class I get quite dizzy and have to sit down, there is a little nausea but that goes away as soon as I sit down. When it happened the first time I just thought it was because I'm not used to it but my instructor is much more concerned. She mentioned low blood pressure but every time I've had that checked it's been normal. After some discussion she thinks that my anaemia and metabolic syndrome are what the problem is. She has suggested that I take some powerade (or the like) with me and have a few sips even though I'm not meant to have sugar.
Opinions? Advice?

Do you know FOR SURE that you have either one of these disorders (confirmed with blood tests) or are you and your doctor just speculating?

I defintely have anaemia - have done since I was a teenager. The naturopath told my I have metabolic syndrome and since I did what I was told all the symptoms went away, I've had sugar a bit since Xmas and some of the symptoms are back so I'm very sure. Plus diabetes is in the family.

What are you doing to treat either condition?

I'm not a doctor (I REPEAT I AM NOT A DOCTOR) but I have both conditions so I'm just curious. I do get the same symptoms with high intensity exercise but not all the time. I'm severely anemic so I'm on iron (it's helping) and while I have reduced the amount of sugar I'm eating, I'm not 100% sugar free. I'm not on any blood sugar medications...yet. My blood sugar numbers get better as I lose weight even with the small amount of sugar that I eat so I know that weight loss is the key to reversing the condition. It's just taking awhile to get there.

    This is what I do:

    1. Wear a heart rate monitor. Calculate your maximum heart rate and try not to go above 80%. Or if you do go above 80%, try not to stay there too long. Sometimes you might be doing to much at once, depending on your current fitness level.

    2. Do you own a glucose monitor? Before turning to Gatorade (not the greatest idea in my opinion) the next time you have this happen, sit down and take your blood sugar reading. If it's low, supplement with glucose but you might also want to talk to your doctor about the medications you are taking. Maybe you need to decrease one of them. Maybe you need to eat differently before the workout.

Also, one more thing. You can be "very sure" that you have one condition or another but without proper testing, you really don't know.

I take iron tablets when I feel I need to - the levels were under controls for a couple of years doing it that way although I now get my period again so it's possibly I'm not compensating enough.
I was sugar free (bar my two serves of fruit) for 3.5 months but I haven't been able to go back to it since I lifted the ban for christmas. When I went sugar free I had energy throughout the whole day instead of falling asleep in the afternoon, I slept better when stress wasn't interfering and I lost the first 17 kg you can see in my weight loss.
While I would like to have a heart rate monitor I can't afford one, I'm not sure if I can afford to go to the gym next month. That's also the same for the doctor unfortunately.
I look after all the issues my body has as naturally as possible, I used to be on a lot of tablets and I am not going back to that so if there is something simple like a few sips of something I will go for that over medications.

Flip. Aside from everyone's advice, both on here and at the gym, it has just occurred to me as I sit here feeling dizzy and sick that this has been happening without exercise for couple of weeks. If I've slipped over the line I will be so pissed off. Time to see if I can convince the doctors to bulk bill everything. Grrr
