I really dislike most fish. I know fish is great for you and want to find ways of being able to eat it. Does anyone have any suggestions on types of fish to eat and how to prepare it without losing its nutritional value and tasting too fishy? Any suggestions are welcome! :)

My only suggestion would be to try a variety of fish that are quite different from each other. If you don't like everything you've tried, then just don't eat fish.

My only point with trying different ones is that things like:
    shrimp
    salmon
    tuna
    tilapia

are all distinctly different whereas (for example), in my opinion and based on my palette, cod and flounder are similar.

Hopefully I'm making sense. I'm suggesting that if you find some types of fish that you don't like, see if there's other kinds of seafood that are nothing like the ones you dislike.

I don't think you need to try and take something you don't like and make it tolerable by adding crap to it. Just don't eat it if that's the case.

As above, it might help to figure out what exactly you don't like. Is it flavor? texture? Try different textures like tuna or swordfish steak if you don't like the flakyness of a typical fillet. It it's a flavor thing, try fish with a really mild flavor and then marinate it with flavors that you like. If that doesn't work, there are plenty of other lean proteins out there to try!

And remember real fish, not in a can, tastes better than canned. This "quality" concept applies to most other fish/seafood similar to beef. In my opinion, cod and high quality salmon, king or copper river, are two good not so fishy options.

    Yeah, keep trying. I don't like fishy-fish.

But I like tuna, cod, halibut, shrimp, lobster, and if I can have a small amount of salmon, I like it. It's just super rich.

Try adding sauces with butter and dill. Yum. Salmon is good with dill and onion. Okay, now I want fish.

Take a fish oil supplement. I hate all sea food, so that's what I do.

If you don't like it, don't force yourself to eat it. Simples.
I know I need to eat things I like to feel satisfied.

Is it taste or texture or both you don't like?

You could try putting pieces of seafood (crab/lobster) in a nice sauce and having it with pasta and veggies.

Sometimes even trying it prepared different ways may help (grilling it instead of baking etc.)

I agree with the suggestion to try different kinds of seafood. Going to a good fish monger can help (they'll be able to give you suggestion to prepare it).

Otherwise, don't bother. Just because it's good for you doesn't mean you have to eat it. You should be able to enjoy what you eat!

I'd suggest making pasta with tonnato sauce. For the sauce, you'll need a can of tuna and a few anchovy fillets but believe me when I tell you you'd never know it was made with not one but two different fish. The end result has a nutty almost parmesan-like taste. It's also very cheap to make. This recipe is similar to the one I've used:

It's hard for me to say (I love fish) but I don't think cod, pollock and/or halibut have a very fishy taste. The texture is also denser than other fish. Try marinating in a seasoning or sauce that you already like.

    Good luck :}

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I am thinking I will start with the mild types. I love all shellfish, so that's not a problem. Just the actual fish are difficult for me.

If you like shellfish you could try the packages of crab or lobster flavoured pollock.
