How do I log my work as exercise?

Hi all,
I'm a painter. I'm up and down ladders, using my upper body quite a bit for the actual painting. How should I be logging this type of work as exercise? I can't find any 'construction' related things in the workout search menu....

Thanks!

I would make it part of your profile. Instead of saying Sedentary I would select Active or something that fits your job. Under profile, select settings, diet/fitness profile, I would select very active since they mention carpenter as an example.

You can change your activity level in the settings under update your diet profile. Sounds like your job qualifies as active to very active. Good luck!

Okay. If I do that should I still worry about logging it as a workout?

No. Setting things this way will give you the extra cals that working out would.

No, it will already be factored in.

Nope, because MFP will automatically increase your daily calorie intake based on a higher activity level. You would essentially be logging it twice if you included it as a workout as well.

Under exercise there is also one for carpentry - general. I use that one when I do painting or any home repairs. I don't do these on regular basis. Either way works. Also depends if you are trying to eat back all the calories. Good luck.

Agreed - change your lifestyle setting, but workout information should be specific to non-daily activity workouts. Since you do these things for a living, it's not "exercise" (above and beyond the daily routine).
