I am in need of new gym shoes.
I'm not sure how often they should be replaced. I usually workout 3-5 hours a week (mostly cardio & weight machines right now). My last few pair have been new balance but I don't really have to stick to any brand. I want to invest in a nice pair with good cushioning......any ideas/advice? Thanks

Cushioned running shoes should (oddly enough) only be used for running.
I would go with a versatile, flat soled shoe with some thickness to it...these are essential for squatting and deadlifting and will not chew up your toes doing cardio (so long as they are thick - avoid trendy, thin soled sneakers like most Puma shoes)0 -
Thanks. I currently am not running but since my cardio lasts 45-60 minutes I like the cushioning0

new balanace minimus. The lack of cushioning makes them way nicer, as crazy as that sounds!0

Hmm, I guess whatever recommendations I get on here I'll try on and see where it goes. Keep em' coming & thanks!0

I like more cushioned shoes for cardio also, usually cross trainers of some kind work well for me. I do some walking/jogging also and I have a pair of Avia running shoes. Not expensive but fit my feet well and are very comfy.0

I have to admit that I need to talk to someone about getting better shoes... Specifically, I need a better pair of cross training shoes.0

Also, how often are you replacing shoes (and how often are you working out). Mine I've had about a year, they still look ok (vs. looking old/worn out) but don't feel as comfortable as they used to be which is why I want new ones (better support)0
