The past few days I have noticed that my waist area has been getting a little bigger and squishier, compared to the muscle tone I used to have. I can't weigh myself (no scale available) so I can't really tell if I gained, but I'm wondering which of these is more likely to make it that way:

A little less than 3 weeks ago, I had to stop lifting weights because the equipment is no longer available to me, although I have been doing as many workouts as I used to, just without weights.

2 or 3 days ago I started adding more protein to my diet and getting very close to, and sometimes over my protein goal everyday, and I also noticed that I'm ALWAYS over my sugar goal, even though I try so hard not to be, and I sometimes get over my carbs goal too.

Which of these would be more likely to make me lose the muscle tone in my waist, or seem a bit more bloated?

hmmm. This maynot apply to you...but if you search other sites for "soft fat vs hard fat" ...I found out alot of good information.
here is a post to a MFP forum. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/351885-fat-turning-soft-and-weird-feeling-what-is-up-with-it
Is this what your feeling like?

I notice that when I am loosing weight, I sometimes but on excess water weight around my belly and it feels very squishy as you say, then in a day or so when my body is ready to drop the weight I loose the squishy fat. I think it's because the fat is breaking down and the extra water is there to flush it away. I don't like the feeling, but if it's melting the fat ....I can put up with it. lol

Plus I am having the hardest time loosing in my waist. I have lost 32 pounds and only a inch or so in the waist area. But other parts are slimming down....so I know eventually that will go too.

It's not that it's 'squishy' (I probably should have worded that differently), it's more like I lost most of the muscle tone, and it turned into fat.
