You know that area between your chest and armpits, the pocket of fat that insists on showing itself when you were any cute sleevless shirts. Does anyone know of a good exercise to get rid of that??

You can't spot reduce, you will have to wait for your body to release the fat on its own time.

I saw a drastic reduction in this area when I began push ups. I have not lost a lot of weight in the past 6 months, but my body shape is completely different.

i refer to that area as 'the armpit boob' - lol!

anyways, i know you cant spot reduce, but i have been doing a fitness bootcamp with a lot of arm and chest excercises and i swear they are shrinking! it is so cool! but i think it is just dependant on each individual how they will lose weight, how quickly, and where.

the boot camp is similar to the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred...you might want to check it out! :drinker:

Ha, Ha!!! Armpit Boobs!

I was soooooooo happy to see this stuff mostly gone after losing 30 lbs.

I'm sure all the general weight lifting did it....... program designed by a trainer.
I can't afford to go back for any more right now!

I was doing bicep & tricep curls, machine & hand weights.
    Chest presses, machine & dumbbells.
Maybe my aerobic kick boxing class helps too?

Good luck! It's great to wear a tank top in public! wheeeee.....

Exercise can sometimes get rid of this but be aware that sometimes this is actually breast tissue and will not go away no matter how hard you work out. You will more than likely know that it is breast tissue if you find it getting tender at the same time as your breasts do during TOM. If it is bothersome to you your doctor can remove it; however, it does have a tendency to come back. I talked with my OB about the very same thing but in my case I was aware it wasn't fat because it was painful during TOM and swollen on occasion.

Where exactly are we talking about? Is it where your bra band is going around your back from the cup

I was talking about between your armpit and your breast, usually it's a little triangle shaped but in some cases it's a mini-boob

I always call it the tube top-muffin top. I get it really bad whenever I wear a strapless bra but otherwise it doesn't bother me too much.

Pushups and chest flys really seemed to help with this (of course along with proper diet, I know spot reduction is a myth...)

I also have armpit fat in addition to flabby chicken arms. I've found that doing tricep curls (lay on your back and raise weights from behind you up over you chest) really helps get some muscle tone... still got the flab, but at least as I lose the weight there's muscle under there! :ohwell:

Yup... I agree, that's the best way to tone the muscle, giving you the best chance to minimize the look of the apb's (arm pit boobs). I do the following series after every workout

Plank on elbows or ball: 1 min
    Push-ups: 10
    Superman: 4, 15 sec holds
    Push-ups: 10
    Reverse plank: 1 min
    Rest: 30 sec's

    Repeat 3-5 times

And may I commend you, Heather on your ticker pic

I didn't think I would lose this part, but since I have been strength training, it has toned up so much.

I've been doing J/M 30 day shred, yoga and J/M fat boost metabolism using 5 pound weights......lots of push-ups, walking push-ups, etc and I still have them...but my arms look relatively toned (bicep/tricep)
    I'm confused :ohwell:

you are not wearing the proper size bra. Go to a professional bra shop and get fitted! that little bulge might just be displaced breast tissue from wearing the wrong size bra. Years ago I sold custom fitted bras, that is very common! You might just be shocked at the true bra size you need and see the armpit boob disappear! good luck!

It's true. When I started wearing the correct bra size, I got rid of the back fat bra roll and the armpit boob. It's really worth the $30 for a new bra!

    Mmm?
I see your point about the bra, but I'm not referring to back/side fat etc
Even when I'm naked and put my arm out to the side, i have this flab or loose skin by my arm pit.....it's one reason I don't wear sleevless
    BUT I def. have a defined bicep/tricep

    Am I making any sense?

i do wear custom fitted bras. $80 a pop! i think the boob fat just ran out of growing room so it moved to the pits. LOL!

The small area in the front above the bra and not in the actual armpit! It is most likely displaced breast tissue! A badly fitted bra will cause this bulge, even in a fit thin woman! Right in the curve of your chest in front of the armpit area. Am I clearer? it does not fall back in place the moment you are naked, it has been mashed there and found a home! it has to go back in place with time and a properly fit bra!

    Got it...very clear
    'found a home' huh?
I get fitted often at VS...I did after each baby and after I finally lost the weight after coming here after baby #2.....
Maybe I'll try a dept store...we have a nice Lord and Taylor and Neiman Marcus close by.....I always hear it's worth the investment to get a good bra...I'm just a little frugal...

no harm in getting fitted then buying the right size elsewhere, go to a shop that specializes in only Bras. they have shops that take care of Mastectomy patients etc. they will fit you properly, the VS gals are not trained! neither are department store clerks.

I too am a 4-boob woman. Unfortunately, they do not have a bra for me (I used to be the person who fitted women into their bras). Don't get me started on the lack of selection for bras (i.e. women with small boobs and larger backs have nearly no selection - some how the industry thinks that women start at size B, and if they have a larger back, they start at size C).

Push ups and planks are great for the area. But if you have a bad back, or are not ready to do those positions yet, the machines are great. The machine I use at our gym is simply called chest. You sit on it, put the thingy (that's technical term) into the right weight (I use 20 lbs) and push forward (my trainer has me cross my arms as I do this). 15 reps, 3 times, and you're on your way.

You would be suprised at what the wrong size under clothes can do. For years I unknowingly wore the wrong size underwear. Now I have grooves in my hip fat that won't go away even though I wear the right size underwear when I wear them. To lose them I will have to get down to a pretty low body fat.:grumble:

I have dents in my shoulders from the weight of my breasts not being supported by my bra. It will never go away. the body adapts. have you ever seen old ladies with humps on their feet? it is not fat feet, it is the wrong size shoe mashing their feet into a deformed shape. get fitted! I promise it will work.

Push up. From a Denise Austin video if you lay on your side and hold the weight at a 90 degree angle with arm at your side. Raise the weight up and down. Also swing the arms back and forth with weights
You know that area between your chest and armpits, the pocket of fat that insists on showing itself when you were any cute sleevless shirts. Does anyone know of a good exercise to get rid of that??

Sorry for the delay April. The plank on the ball:

Kneel in front of the big ball, place your elbows on the ball like you would place them on the ground. Straighten your legs back, resting on your toes. In essence, you will be in the same position as the floor plank, but at an angle. Using the ball makes you engage more core muscles in order to stay stable! Good luck!
