Help!!! Why do I do so well for 3-4 days and then blow it for a day and the cycle continues. It is so frustrating and slows down the weight loss. Any tips on how to stay focused?? I know. Self control and will power which I lack. And then I am so mad at myself!!!

So you have a rhythm going...a few days on a day or so off. Stop trying to fight yourself, you'll lose. Instead, make sure that on your "on" days you are eating enough calories so you don't feel like you're starving and eat healthy--veggies, fruits, stuff that has real nutritional content. On your "off" days give yourself permission to eat without saying, "I blew it anyway, just as well pork out." There's no excuse for excuses. lol Remember this is not a race, its a lifestyle re-adjustment.
The first 4-6 weeks this time around, I had more off than on days. I was very gentle with myself and started over ever single day. I lose about 2 lbs a week and I don't exercise yet. I eat 1400 calories, drink lots of water and nonfat milk (calcium is good and I love it), and focus on the veggies (thank you Green Giant for your steamers line of products). When I've lost below 200 lbs, I'm going to add exercise and won't eat back the calories The exercise will be about increasing muscle mass and stamina, not speeding up the weight loss. Slow down, enjoy your food, smell the roses, add some garlic to whatever is cooking and take a walk if its nice out. . Lifestyle readjustment, remember.0 -
For me, I need to forgive myself and move on! Each choice you make can be a better one. Don't let the guilt from one bad choice lead you to give up for the rest of the day, or the rest of the weekend, or whatever. Enjoy what you have, and make a better choice next time.0

Just a thought: are you being overly restrictive those few days when you feel you're doing so well? If so, it could also be your body's way of trying to get the nutrition it needs.0

^^This is what it sounds like to me. Most of the posts I see about people binging (that is not ED related) it is because their calories are set too low to be sustainable.0 -
The key for me is that I let myself indulge but in small doses that don't ruin my progress. If I really want something that is higher calorie than I should have, I burn it off before the end of the day.0

Thank you for your responses. No more excuses for me!! I tend to be very strict on my calorie intake on my good days. I guess I need to even things out more during the week.0

I know exactly how you feel.
Here's what happens with me ... Good for one day, bad for one or two, good for one day, bad for one or two ... then, after a week or so, good for 2 days, bad for 1, good for 3 days, bad for 1/2 ... then after a month or so, good for 5 days, bad for 1 ...
STICK WITH IT, and don't stress ...
For me, at least the problem is in giving up before I've really begun. It takes time to develop good habits and change you're way of thinking about food and responding to food.
At first it will seem like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back ... maybe for a long itme. But keep taking as many steps forward as you can, and eventually they will FAR outnumber the steps back.
A day at a time ... this post is for me too. Trust me, I understand0 -
Thanks mousefood ( cute name!). I think some of it is emotional eating which I need to work on as well. One day at a time. Back on track today!!0
