The Weight of Water

I looked up how much water weighs this morning and learned that it is indeed possible to gain a couple of lbs just in water weight.
1 cup of water weighs ~ .5 lb.
16 cups = 1 gallon ~ 8 lbs
So logically, if you do have too much sodium one day and your body is retaining water - 1 cup is not a huge amount when spread out over your entire body. Neither is 4 cups which is about 2 lbs.
Just food for thought.
