Hi everyone - I started using the site on June 25th and it has worked really well for me. I have lost 18 lbs so far and I am on my way to loosing 60lbs! I have always known the best (real) way to loose weight is to simply burn more each day than you take in but never disciplined myself to do so until a friend told me about this site. To me it all comes down to commitment and accountability. Look forward to sharing with others during this process.

:drinker: way to go!! this site is great
  • Hello! My name is Hannah, live in south west Florida! I have always had a problem with my weight. No, let me correct that. I always THOUGHT I had a problem with my weight. Now that I am older, looking back at photos I was at the weight I wanted to be w/out ever realizing it!

Almost a year ago I lost 30 lbs overnight (or so it seemed). Talked with my doc she said I was depresseed (go figure right?), anyways she puts me on some pills (that I didnt need) and I end up gaining every bit of weight back plus more.

Im ready to loss the weight and I am ready to feel good about myself!

My husband and I are going on a cruise in Nov and I want to look my best! I know that I am not going to be able to loss all 50lbs but I am aiming for at least 15!

I really hope this site helps my motivation!

Discipline yourself to use the site everyday, don't cheat when you enter your information and you can do it!

I am sure others know this as well but one tip I have is to add in your excercise data (good to track for accountability) but whenever possible don't consume those calories. I try to end the day with my calories remaining nearly the same as the extra I earned for excercise.

    Good luck!!!

Welcome! This site is great! Here I have learned so much about the kinds of foods that I eat, and how to eat a more healthy diet! It's a fantastic place, that will enable me to do this for the rest of my life!

I think you will find that the people here are great, and quick to give support and/or advice when needed!

That's a pretty big blanket statement,,,

Eat exercise calories / don't eat exercise calories is an endless debate on this site. Most people who've been working it for a while and done serious poundage/change-age have plateued a couple times and changed up routines and most of us have found that the progress stops and you can go into a starvation mode if you don't eat any of your ex calories.

If you need 3,000 calories on the day you climb Mt. Fuji and you only eat 1200, you will quickly convince your metabolism that you've moved to Ethiopia and it needs to hold on to every calorie it can. Bad stuff happens,,, not good advice.

Anywho - generally speaking,,, huge calorie deficits caused by exercising and not eating the excess is somewhat sorta Ok for people who still have a lot of bodyfat,,, but once you start getting a little leaner it may not work and can be pretty detrimental.

Once I got below 20% BF I just couldn't do it anymore. Any more than 1000 calorie deficit and I fell awful and listless and I retain water and maintain (or even gain a little) weight. I eat my exercise calories, or at least most of them, and I'm doing well. This is pretty common.

Banks sez: """Not eating exercise calories can bring you outside that range and (if done over an extended period of days or weeks) will gradually send your body into survival mode, making it harder (but not impossible) to continue to lose weight. The important thing to understand is (and this is REALLY important) the closer you are to your overall healthy weight (again, your metabolism views this a a range, not a specific number) the more prominant the survival mode becomes (remember, we talked about efficiency). This is because as fat becomes scarce, muscle is easier to break down and transport. And thus, the reason why it's harder to lose that "Last 10 pounds". """
