Hey MFP gang,

Just got this in an email newsletter from Fitness Magazine.......thought I'd share for those who are always struggling to find breakfast ideas like me.

  • Unless you are really small a less than 300 calorie breakfast is a really bad idea. You just fasted for eight hours. It's time to jump start your metabolism with proteins and fresh fruits. Theoretically breakfast should be the largest meal of the day, not lunch or dinner.

    Very much agreed...............

I eat a huge amount of protein and veggies for breakfast, sometimes just protein.

Then for lunch and dinner I load up on veggies (think large green salads) with just a bit of protein to maintain blood sugar levels.............

I never thought of it that way- that is, breakfast being a big meal. I don't like typical breakfast foods anyway, so maybe I could reverse the order and sort of eat dinner for breakfast..... you've definitely given me something to.......wait for it......chew on

You don't have to eat traditional breakfast foods for breakfast. The whole point is to break the fast.

Sometimes I eat a grilled chicken salad, most days here lately I have been having 2 giantic cheeseburgers or if I am on the run I stop by BK and get 2 double cheeseburgers, plain with no bun............

Since I went to primarily protein with some plant material scattered in through out the day, I have lost 6 pounds and feel great with bounds more energy.

My only vice is I need to plan and make more time for exercise.

How can eating two double cheeseburgers from BK be better for you than eating a 300 cal healthy breakfast? How many cals are you alotted for each day? I am set at 1200 cals a day and 2 double cheeseburgers would take up almost all of my calories!!

Ya, I don't think I'd go for two double cheeseburgers either, but it's working for Lioness!! So, go Lioness!

It's just not right for me.

I didn't mean to sound confrontational, Lioness.......I just am trying to understand this whole lifestyle change and counting calories thing! It is still hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that you have to eat MORE to lose weight.

Congrats to you for losing over 40lbs!! :drinker: I hope that one of these days I will just have an AH-HA moment and it will all click and I will get it.:grumble: I guess once I find what works for me, the weight will come off.

Most days I make my own cheeseburgers using grass fed beef and raw cheese.

However, this week has been hectic at work, so sticking with protein in mind - i go get 2 double cheeseburgers plain, with NO bun from BK.

Yesterday and today - I ate the same thing. Double cheeseburgers from BK (plain, with no bun) and pistachios (2 cups).

    That is about 2,641 calories.

I am dropping a pound a day again since going to pure protein and mixing just a few carbs in here and there.

I didn't take it as confrontational...............

I don't count calories and I have stopped counting carbs (no longer on Atkins as of Tuesday). I am doing a plan for life called The Primal Blue Print. Heavy on animal and plant products and nuts / seeds, limited dairy, no beans, legumes or lentils, no grains.

Basically eat like a cave man and the weight has started falling off and I can eat this way for life because I am never hungry. I am basically making myself eat to keep blood sugar stable.
