Flat Tummy without Surgery

I am a mother of 4 that once weighed 265lbs. I was a very fit 148 before my 4th baby. My bf% was 19%. My intentions after having baby # 4 was to have a tummy tuck. My personal trainer friend said that I just needed more work and time. Can anyone support this? The surgeon stated that surgery was my only option but of course he stands to make 12K. I would love pics if you have them.

ive seen women on here who have changed the way they look and dont need surgery. i'd look for those pics and don't give up just yet. surgery is a big decision that if you can avoid it you should do so.0

I've had the surgery...July 2012. It is the worst pain I have ever had in my life and the recovery was awful for me. I couldn't do anything for myself...and I mean NOTHING. I am happy with it now of course, minus the ugly large scar but I'm out $9,000. I remind myself daily not to eat junk because of the bill I must pay every month to cover my surgery. I'd try to exercise your booty off before you take the surgery route.0

I've wondered this same thing. I have a personal trainer but haven't shared with him the condition of my belly. I've got about 16 pounds to reach goal but my stomach looks worse with each pound lost. I have stretch marks and a deflated belly that makes me cringe when I look at it.0

I've heard the same thing that surgery is the only way but I refuse to belief this. I have read many success stories of people capable of getting the results they want without surgery. Many of them were told surgery was the only option but they proved them wrong..... Now many of the stories I read, did say it was very hard but possible.0

When I was younger at age 28 I lost 70 lbs and worked hard to get my tummy back. It worked and I had age on my side. At age 55 and 179lb loss however I'm not going to be as lucky. My doc wants me to wait for a year of maintenance before I consider any surgery. Id be curious if there are ANY success stories at my age0

I always wondered the same thing... but after SEEING so many success stories from other moms on MFP i am 100% confident that it IS possible. It is not going to be an easy journey but I'd much rather do it myself since I am able bodied. I guess there is some pride involved in that also.
Plus there are so many benefits of having a strong core/stomach other than visual.0 -
I've had good results without surgery. My stomach wasn't absolutely unlivable when I got started, but it was definitely a pooch-tummy with lots of extra skin. When I lost weight initially it seemed pretty saggy, but then with strength training it really did tighten up - didn't think it could happen, but it did - and thank goodness because I have no kinda $$ for surgery0

After losing 170 pounds and still a little more to go, I have some excess skin either side of my stomach that hangs down. The bits are reducing but very slowly. I just have to be patient. It is not surprising after going from 60" down to 38" around my stomach.0

Check out the topics under Success Stories! There are so many inspiring people (mothers) who have lost a ton and gotten their belly back in shape! Good luck to you! I would always second the notion of healthy natural weight loss and toning before any surgery!0 -
being a mother of 4 and no where near the amount of money for a tummy tuck....i've gone gung ho and bought 30 day shred, 6 week abs, yoga meltdown and no more trouble zones....I'll let you know how it goes because I would love to see a great tummy when all is said and done and I have a long way to go...so this should be interesting.. Feel free to add me if you'd like. My intentions are to start the 30DS today and report after the so see the results.....
No I have to hold myself accountable...no pressure... :laugh:0
