Do they exsist? Are they healthy? My ex was taking a pre-work out powder for energy and to help him push harder. Does this exist for women.. I've googled my lil heart but come up empty handed. He also took protein after his workout, but after looking further into all of these I found that they stimulate testosterone. I'm not out to look like those women body builders... More along the lines of a thick vicky secrets model  lol. But I would love to have the energy the pre workout powders provide for men.

Nitric acid and protein powders should be just fine for women I would imagine. Same principles apply.

I'm no expert here, but lately I have been using the Whey powders to supplement my nutrition because if I do my food diary I'm not taking in enough calories but want to be able to recover from workouts

Also I'll have to check the brand, but I buy the protein powder from walmart, and it's just whey....Delivers what it is supposed to-protein, and taste good when mixed with 1% or skim milk.

I lift like a guy, I take the same supplements guys do and yet can't manage to look even close to a female body builder. There's nothing special about us, use the same things guys use. If you want to look like a Victoria's Secret model go on a liquid diet of one gallon of water daily and shakes made from spinach and egg white powder.

Women have testosterone too. It does nifty stuff like help bone growth, lean muscle building, increase energy levels and help create sex drive. Women just don't have nearly the levels men do, so most women (and most non chemically enhanced men for that matter) can't look like big hulking body builders.

As for whey, it's just protein. If you eat/ drink dairy, you get whey in your diet. Having protein shakes just helps you get a good amount of digestible protein in your diet so that you can hang onto your lean muscle mass when eating at a deficit or build muscle when eating a surplus. I use a lot of whey because I am always under on protein. I also lift weights. I look in no way like a bodybuilder. I look like a skinny fat, curvy girl. I may, if I am very lucky, manage to lean out. Genetics will never let me look like bodybuilder no matter how much whey protein I consume.

Usually just a whey protein shake. Fast protein. Sometimes with BCAA. Usually when someone refers to a shake specifically as a "post workout" or "recovery" shake they mean ones that companies have labeled that. Some that are labeled recover drinks include electrolytes, usually in the form of sodium, which unless you are running significant distances you really don't need. If you eat right after working out and it includes protein you really don't need a protein shake or recovery drink.

recovery shake or post-workout shake are just other terms given to protein shakes to appeal to more cardio-minded people that have pre-desposition to think of protein shakes as a bodybuilder thing.

i like to make a post-work out/recover/protein shake with 1-2 scoops of vanilla protein powder, 8-10 ounces of orange juice, and 1/4-1/2 cup of frozen berries. sometimes i add a 1/4 cup of plain greek yogurt, and a banana.
