Getting there quickly

Okay. So I have been at it for 6 weeks now. I'm doing... well, okay. But that's definitely not good enough.
On 7/09 I'm going on a vacation and possibly meeting my girlfriend there. I want to send those inches & pounds to somewhere over the rainbow and make them stay there. I need advice on how to do it.
I'm currently eating at about 1200 cals/day (it's different every day, some days I even eat at about 700). I eat white carbs and it would be extremely hard for me to stop it but if I have to make that sacrifice to make this less-than-a-month count then so be it. I'm 5'5, 142.4lbs, I workout a lot with a rest day here and there, I strength train 4x/week (Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution). Lately, I started messing up due to my emotional problems but I can pick it up. I choose to do it.
Advice?
Ah, btw, I know my ticker says 2kg lost (5lbs) but I've lost about 6kg (15lbs) during my 6 weeks here.

It's possible to get there quickly, but when you go on vacation you will probably resort to unhealthy eating and it will come back so fast and you will be miserable. Try for a healthy lifestyle for the long haul. Try to get your friend to be a healthy eating buddy. I have managed to go on vacation and eat reasonably healthy with careful planning (my own healthy food stash, restaurants with nutrition info for wise choices). I usually gained some back in the form of water weight (salty foods) and lost it in a few days. I would never go under 1200 cals. It's just not good for your body.0

So how much weight do you want to lose in less than a month? If I'm understanding your ticker and everything, you're looking to lose another 15 kg, right? You want to lose all of that in a month?
I'm going to tell you what you don't want to hear. Even IF it were possible to lose that, it would not be healthy, and it wouldn't be a good look. You'd lose a lot of muscle mass and your skin wouldn't have time to adapt to your new smaller self. In addition, it would be extremely hard to maintain that weight loss.
My advice would be to set your protein goal higher than MFP suggests (maybe 40% or so), and do some strength training in addition to any cardio you do so that you can maintain your muscle mass and burn fat instead. Set your weight loss goal to 1.5 or 1 lb per week, and eat! Restricting yourself as much as you're doing is not good for your body, and if your body isn't healthy it isn't going to look good. You won't reach your goal weight in that time, but what you will lose will be a healthy loss, so you will feel good AND look good for your vacation.
ETA: your girlfriend loves YOU. Not some idealized future you. Yes, I understand wanting to look good, but chances are she already thinks you look amazing. Don't wreck your health for this trip. It's not worth it. She'll just be happy to see you.0 -
I'm doing BR and followed her meal plan pretty consistently throughout most of it (I have 2 1/2 weeks left). I'd make recipes in the cookbook that came with the dvd's. I loved carbs too until I started making some of that stuff. The 7 day metabolism kickstart mealplan caused me to lose 6 lbs alone. I was eating like crap, I guess.0

Your mentioned "white carbs" and your food diary does seem to heavily revolve around white bread. You say it would be extremely hard to stop eating it and that immediately suggests you are very dependent on sugar (also suggested by the high sugar yorkie yoghurts etc). I also very prone to sugar addiction and would find it hard to only eat a small amount a day so I find the best solution is just to eliminate it from my diet - if you really want results for your holiday then that would be a good idea, although be warned that if you then start eating lots of sugary food on holiday you will be back to square one.. thus leading to the dreaded yo-yo dieting - so if you're really determined make it a lifestyle change.
Try and find alternatives to sandwichs that are quick and easy, mixed leftovers, soups etc. Also I suggest you simply don't buy the high sugar treats and stick to natural yoghurts, fruit, nuts..
Hope that helps somehow!0 -
I chose not to follow the meal plan because I always find that a bit too restrictive for me.
I'm just wondering, how can I get tighter in my form for the vacation. If I can get to see her, this is gonna be my first time so I have to look good.

Thank you so, so much! I'm glued to the bread but I have to get around this. I have a sweet tooth and I'm trying to win but I sorta keep losing... I really have to step up and get it right this time!0 -
If you don't mind me asking, how do you get your ticker to come up on your posts?
Thanks!0 -
I figured it out. Thanks!0

Sorry I didn't explain
But I'm glad you figured it out

You've lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks? That's a lot. You could choose to keep on what you've been doing for the next month or go less aggressive but I wouldn't go more. You can't lose another 15 but you might lose another 6-8. You don't weigh that much for your height. You might be better served by ditching the scale for the month and focusing on strength training to try to make the best of where you're at right now. You probably look terrific. Enjoy your vacation.0
-
I would love to ditch the scale but I'm doing a beachbody challenge that has weekly weigh-ins... *sigh* I upped my calories to 1400 now & I'll just focus on the strength. Thanks for everything0

If you are looking to be more toned, then strength training is the key. BUT, you also need to eat enough, and you absolutely need to eat 20% protein because when you strength train, you tear the muscle, and protein is what repairs it and causes it to grow.0
-
Yeah, that's definitely what I'm looking for. The thing is - I don't know how much is enough. Different calculators tell me different things and I find myself confused. xD Thanks for the advice on protein, I'll revisit my ratios0

How much calories is enough? ><"0 -
http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ This will help you figure out how many calories to eat.
Lift heavy. As heavy as you can. You won't lose 15 lbs by vacation but it will help you be firm and sleek!0 -
You should be netting at least 1200 to keep your body functioning.
go to fitnessfrog.com figure out your BMR that's the MINIMUM your body needs just to sit around all day no eating, nothing.
So you should never eat below your BMR.
I understand not wanting it to take a long time, it's hard to be patient with this, but you're going to gain it all back if you can't maintain this eating style.
Good luck and I hope you have a good time. =]0 -
Thanks guys.
The scoobyworkshop site tells me to eat over 2000cals if I want to lose fat/gain muscle but it just seems like so much...

Try the "lose body fat" option instead of the lose fat gain muscle option, because you are trying to get leaner first0
-
Ah, right. 1851 still seems like a lot. I'll probably have to dig for some recipes, I guess0
-
Did you possible calculate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) rather than BMR?
1800 does sound like a lot lol that's my tdee while my BMR is between 1400-1500.0 -
My TDEE is 2314 so nope, I didn't. My BMR is 1493. I minused 20% from TDEE to get the 1851.0
