under/over calories

Does anyone have an opinion about this: If you go under calories on one day, is it okay to over calories the next day as long as they even each other out?

If you mean it like, "oh, I went under my calories yesterday, so today I can pig out and eat whatever I want", then I would say that's not an excuse. You should eat healthy all the time if you want this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. But if you're going to a party or a brunch the next day and you go a little over, then I think that's fine.0

If I go way over one day, I'll try to stay under my calories for a couple of days, or exercise and not eat those calories back.0

It's called zig-zagging calories and people often use it to break or prevent plateaus but as a previous poster said, don't use it as an excuse to pig out. You should still make sure you eat healthy.0 -

Exactly! I find it's the best way to stick to a healthy lifestyle. Some days you're less hungry, some days you're more hungry & I find this method really helps me!0 -
Thanks. I appreciate the advice. :flowerforyou:0

A lot of us do this deliberately as part of calorie cycling. It keeps your metabolism guessing. It's recommended by many as a way to keep your metabolism revved up.0
