hello. i am new to mfp and very excited to find this site. i am a 38 year old wife and mother of four boys ages 16-10 and two dogs - a mastiff and a yorkie. i was naturally thin (never gave food a second thought) until after my first baby. then the battle began. i am currently 160 lbs. this will be the sixth time i am going to lose 30 to 40 lbs. i have succesfully lost the weight once after each baby plus one time about 4 years ago. life always seems to happen, and i put myself at the bottom of the list, i go back to old bad habits and i gain the weight back. i am an emotional eater (joy and stress) and really quite lazy . i am a diet book junkie and can teach a class in nutrition. i just can't practice what i know. when i do exercise i love yoga and walking. i do the elliptical trainer for cardio but i hate it. i broke up with my latest love - cheetos- yesterday and am ready to begin my journey. i am hoping to keep myself on a healthy path with the help of this site. i would love to lose the weight once and for all before i hit 40.

Hi, and welcome to THE best site on the web! :flowerforyou:
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:0 -
hi, I'm fairly new to this too and have lost 10lbs..I don't do too much excerise because I work midnights but I have found that just walking my dog (shepard/lab mix) and dancing helped me lose what I have already..as for junk food I have switched from chips to chrispy mini's and have cut of pop and cholocate completley out..I do drink coffee but do through in a couple tea's to balance it out...I reccomend sticking to the program follow each intake they provide you with, I'm sure if you do you'll lose the amount of wieght you want..I hope this is of so help to you
good luck
