I've officially hit my first plateau and am really interested in knowing when you hit your first plateau (how long into your weight loss journey) how much weight had you lost at that stage, and how long did the plateau last?

I've been rocking back and forth for almost 3 weeks now, and have thus far lost 37 pounds over a period of almost 3 months.

I will really appreciate it if you could share your info with me.

Thanks in advance!

    I started at 276 2/2011
    I was at 214 6/2011

Mine lasted a long time - months. Here is what I tried.

    - Eating more. (Gained 10 pounds in 3 months
    - Adding more workouts.
    - Mixing up workouts.
    - ZIg Zaging calories.

    What worked?
    - Eating the calories for the weight I want to be.
    - Not eating exercise calories.
    - Longer runs
    - Interval runs.
    - Playing hockey because it is intervals.

I am down 11 - that's 1 pound over last year at this time. I did say it was a long time?

It might be time to change your daily total calories. Your body does get used to things after a while, including your specific workouts. Consider trying to add an extra 100-200 calories into your diet AND perhaps either different workouts, or longer workouts to break the plateau.

Thanks for the info - I've looked into zig zagging and into doing intervals while walking - I'm going to give it a try from next week. I am busy fine-tuning my plan of attack! Let's hope I will be successful in breaking this curse!
