It depends on how you eat. Every couple of hours is recommended but I prefer to have a 'lunch' and a 'dinner' meal so I roughly divide my 1390cals up into 6 meals/snacks:

    8am - 200 cal
    10 am - 200 cal
    12-1 pm - 300-400cal
    2-4 pm - 150cal
7 pm - 300-400 cal (depending on how much I had for lunch)
    evening snacks allowance - 140cal

Every one is different. Listen to your body and eat as required. Not because you are bored etc.. I like to do the 3 meals at 400 and the rest on snacks in between meals

I'm sure someone will disagree, but I was always raised with a big dinner that everyone sat down for, so I budget alot of my calories for dinner. I eat a very reasonable (filling) breakfast usually around 150 to 200 calories (oatmeal or something) and then a decent lunch (around 300 or so). And then snacks and dinner. I'm not a huge snacker though. I'll eat a little fruit or something occasionally. I eat an early dinner and exercise at night, so I'm not eating 600 calories and sleeping on it or anything.

That's just how I've been doing it.
