Great hopes

I have way over a hundred pounds to lose, and have great hopes that MyFitnessPal may help to get me back on course. Once I get started I am pretty sure that my great hopes will turn into great determination, but we'll see how that goes. I need to rein in my eating quite a bit, and to eat healthier foods. I do enjoy moderate exercise and I work out at a gym three times a week already, so exercise may not require as much effort for me as calorie restriction in my case.

Anyway, wish me luck! My first goal is just 63 pounds because I didn't want to get too discouraged with how much I have left to lose.

After a while it just becomes second nature to log everything you eat and when you see the little bar move along your ticker telling you how much you've lost it's a great feeling.

Just wish mine would move faster

Staying positive and a great attitude are two wonderful tools to have during this journey, and you my friend have both of them already! Keep positive and believe in yourself, and you will go far!

It's great that you've decided to become healthier. As for the calorie restriction, i would take it gradually & not do too much too soon. (i couldn't give up my one "real" Coke in the morning for about six months truthfully, so i understand.) Good luck & don't get discouraged. i started off 13 months ago with 82 pounds to lose & so far i have lost 61 pounds. i've had some bumps in the road (2 surgeries - 1st for herniated disks in my neck & another for a pinched nerve in my elbow) as we all have occasionally but kept going. One word of advice that i would give is to be sure and take pictures when you are starting out - that can be great encouragement to see how far you've come. Best of luck to you
