Can you overdo it on eating the same thing

my analogy here: when you wear too much chapstick, your lips dry out easier, and they rely on the man made moisture

so, my question is, if i say, eat eggs everyday, will my body get used to them, will i need them more for the job they were previously doing in terms of their wonderful omegas, etc.

is it possible to eat too much, is moderation really the key? that way my body learns how to deal with nutrients more effectively

let me know your thoughts on this

i like eggs, and this is what sparked this

I don't know but I feel the same way about salsa. Would like to know what people who actually have a clue about this have to say.

This is just my personal opinion, but my initial reaction is "no"...if anything I would think your body would be really sad if you stopped eating eggs  It is used to the nutrients you are providing it and will happily use the eggs for all they are worth every time you eat them.

Just my experience, but i have been eating the same menu for the last couple of months, and i changed it up this past week, more salad and veggies, and i have dropped 5 lbs in 9 days.

My personal opinion is yes your body does get used to it, so you need to change it up a bit every once in a while. I was consistenly loosing about 1-2 pounds a week until a month ago, then i was playing with the same 2 pounds for 4 weeks. Changed it up and I am on my way down again.

so maybe consistency is a good thing, but so are the breaks, that is what i am getting from this

cause i eat them everyday, they are the only high protein breakfast meal i can really think of that i like (if anyone has any other suggestions let me know)

but i am also finding effects on my demolished memory, i have a REALLY REALLY bad memory for a 23 year old, but am finding it acctually easier to focus...from eating all these eggs, which may mean that it wasn't my memory but my attn afterall...i just don't want my body to get used to it, and be like...nah i need more protein

I think the eggs are good nutritionally for you and if you feel better eating them by all means continue. Maybe switch up something else in your menu instead. I kept my breakfast and dinner the same for the most part and just changed out my lunch to get this result.

I don't think it would hurt anything to not have eggs once a week. If you're not seeing any negative (read- gastro) problems from it then I'd say keep eating those eggs.

Another option for breakfast is ham. Or perhaps a protein/spinach shake. Tofu breakfast burrito. Peanut butter in oatmeal. I'd say go look up 'healthy breakfast recipes' on Teh Google and have at until you find something that sounds good.

Until then- bok bok down the hatch.

how can eating something that is good for you be bad for you thats my thought,, keep doing what you are doing,, you probably can not go wrong:flowerforyou:
  • According to Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, you should eat the same things everyday fro two of your meals and only add the variety to one of them. So for example, eating eggs every day for breakfast and soup and sald everyday for lunch, but sometihing new for dinner everyday.

I have the book You: On a Diet.....flipped thru it to find the science behind that, but its just too much to filter thru and type out:noway:
So you can probably find that info at the website: www.realage.com or I highly recommend the book.

    Hope that helps!

I'm curious about this as well. I ate the same breakfast and lunch for a year and lost weight. When I started MFP I decided to "change things up" because I thought it would help my metabolism.
