Vacations are not good for weight loss.

I just don't get it. I weigh 5 pounds more then when we left for vacation last Sunday. I was really good about eating right - Grilled chicken, sweet potato, salads, yogurt. We walked everywhere. Where did this weight come from? It is so discouraging.

How did you get there? In a car, on a plane? Where did you go? Somewhere sunny, hot, on the beach?

p.s. not a stalker, just needed some info...

Planes can make you retain water (don't know why) and so can going to a hot, sunny beach. Your body sweats, thinks its going to dehydrate, so it retains water just in case thats your plan. It takes a couple of days for it to realize, "OK good, she's not trying to kill me" then you go back to normal.

Other than the walking, did you do any exercise? I start my morning either with a nice walk/jog or a workout in the gym. Even then, I usually gain a few pounds on vacation, but it comes right back off.

I'm sure you'll be right back on track in a few days

Yeah, I would wait at least 3 days before recording that weight. For some reason (maybe inactivity?) your body will retain lots of water when you go on a trip. I just went thru that myself.

We drove - about four hours to indianapolis. Weather was high 80s. One day to the Childrens Museum and a ballgame. (I don't eat ball park food.) One day at Connor Prairrie and one day at the Art Museum and exploring Carmel. I drooled while the rest of the family was pigging out and I had a sweet potato. It just isn't fair.

Drink lots of water, jump right back into your regular exercise routine & you'll be fine in a day or two. Don't panic.
