damn it! :grumble:
so ive totally killed myself in the gym this week and now ive got to go AGAIN on my supposed day off because my boyfriends parents are having an anniversary dinner tonight at this place called THE DEAD FISH...not only are the prices high and the food all looks terribly fattening, they dont have nutrition facts online! i dont know what im gonna eat!
i dont want to ask for the nutrition facts in front of the family because most them ...(all of the women)are obese and i feel stupid and rude since im not that overweight.....what the F*** do I do?:explode:

WOULD YOU JUST ASK FOR THE FACTS AND NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS???

Any advice????

    Call ahead.
Ask if they have a light and healthy menu.
If you have to, order a salad with grilled chicken, or something equally as "good" (compartively).

    Good luck!! :flowerforyou:

EDIT -- Or special order a meal. "I'll take the shrimp but can I get them grilled instead of deep-fried-smothered-and-covered? "

I would just make your best picks based on broiled versus fried, etc. Then eat as little of it as possible while you are there.

I agree that calling ahead is your best option.
Ask them if they can e-mail you the nutritional information and if not ask them to recommend over the phone the leanest dishes. Also there may be ways you can modify an existing dish to make it healthier, like getting salad dressing on the side, and asking them to hold any sauces or condiments that are fattening. For example, if a fish dish comes with a creamy sauce ask if there is some other sauce (maybe tomato based) that you can get instead, or just get it plain. If your bf or his parents say anything say it upsets your stomach. Also, don't hesitate to leave food on your plate.

Since these could be your future inlaws I would refrain from doing anything to make them uncomfortable, but that being said your health comes first.

I also want to point out that one indulgent meal every once in a while is not a bad thing. It is ok to treat yourself on occassion.:flowerforyou:

Definitely don't get anything with fried in the title or the description.. I made that mistake at a chinese food restaurant.. Thought it wouldn't be that bad.. YEAH RIGHT! And I knew it! Did it anyways.. It's not worth it because you've been on track, that fried food will grease up your colon and you'll be miserable with diahrrea the next day. It happened to me, and that's karma for not listening to myself.

I agree with the first 2.. Go with grilled..

    love and light.xx

Ok so I am looking at the menu for dead fish restaurant in Crockett, CA. Is that the place?

If so there are some healthier options on the menu. Do you like seafood? Most seafood is low cal as long as it is not drenched in butter. In fact all of the options under "recently demised fish of the day" sound pretty healthy and if you like salmon you also get the benefits of omegas. The menu also has some yummy salads. The crab shouldn't be too bad too as long as you don't use too much butter to dip in. I would avoid the sandwiches. Even the non-cream pastas shouldn't be too bad.

I hope I had the right restaurant. I wish I was going there!
