I enjoy running (I'm still new at it, been going for about 2 months now) and I live in Alabama. As we all know, it's god-awful hot here with insanely terrible humidity. Now, save for on the weekends, I wind up having to run in the late afternoon (between 5-8pm), and at that time, it's been anywhere between 90-94 degrees out!

As we progress through summer, it's been getting harder and harder to convince myself to go out ( I have yet to miss a day though!). I have a running path that I take right from my house that I love and it's about 50%-65% shaded, I drink plenty of water and I try to go out as late as I can but I feel like I just can't keep myself going for as long as I feel like I should be able to at this point. I do about 2 miles and then I'm just so hot that I can't convince myself to keep going. Also the place I run at is well lit at night, but I live in a bad part of town and my roommate and her dog were attacked when they went out for a walk at night a while back, so I'd rather not risk it.
I recently read about a study where holding something cold while doing any kind of exercise that can up your body temp will help to cool you off and prolongs exercise. One study I found is where they tested it with obese women, but I can't seem to find it anymore. The one I did find was tested on people with MS which can be found here: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2377/8/14
The one with the obese women talked of a new product called Cool Point by Trigger Point, which they said was useful because it was light weight and had a strap.
My question is has anyone tried it? It's fairly new and I can't seem to find any reviews for it. It seems a little silly, but at this point, anything that'll keep me cool in this horrible heat may be worth trying.
Sorry for the insanely long post. :blushing:
