If I go to bed at 10 P.M. most nights, what time should I NOT eat anything else? Is it true if you eat and lay down it all turns directly to fat?

i've never heard that before!0
-
Of course not - your metabolism runs all the time. As long as you're not eating over your calories, and you're not going to bed uncomfortably full, it doesn't matter.0
-
I heard the same thing, but it was 8 pm0
-
Stop eating whenever you want!! As long as you don't go over your daily cals you will be fine0
-
That is not true. Eat whenever you want. Just stay with in your macro-nutrients needs for the day! I love to eat a sweet something before I hit the sack.0

I eat a bowl of ice cream almost every night before bed and I have lost 20 pounds. I stop eating when I feel like it, not according to the clock.0
-
Unless you get indigestion if you sleep on a full stomach, meal timing is irrelevant.
I have a glass of chocolate milk right before I go to bed every night. Yum.0 -
I eat a cup of ice cream at midnight, RIGHT before I go to bed. I don't think that myth is true!0
-
Thank u. I'm glad to hear that! Its 9:00 now in Maryland, I'm starving so I'm gonna eat, then lay down thanks again everyone. Maybe some chocolate -still got 400 cals left!0

I believe its basically a myth and will not directly contribute to weight gain. Search google for "don't eat before bed myth" and form your own opinion
There are other reasons not to eat before bed. For example it can cause digestion problems and that can affect your sleep quality.
Heavy eating before bed can cause acid reflux that can end up burning your esophagas0 -
Definitely do not eat after 10pm if that is your bedtime. You're likely to choke in your sleep! Otherwise, time makes ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE!0

Wait a minute! I went to bed at 11pm and now 3 hours later I've just eaten an apple! Will I choke?0 -

You know 6 months ago the majority of replies would tell her not to eat past 7pm. This thread gives me hope0

As much as I would like to blame some of my more argumentative posts on being asleep whilst I typed them, the truth is that I get up most nights for a snack and a browse on here0 -
I can't sleep if I'm the slightest bit hungry so I've always eaten a snack within an hour of going to bed. I've done it my entire life and never had excess weight until recently (because of the evil menopause).0

I am sure a 'should I eat breakfast' thread will come along soon that wil shatter that hope!0 -

Yeah some of the diet myths are pretty funny. My mum thought that because she once went in a sauna and came out a pound lighter than when she went in, all I need to do to shift my extra 14 lbs is visit the sauna once a day for 2 weeks!0 -

9:59 pm. Or 10pm if you are ok with eating in bedIs it true if you eat and lay down it all turns directly to fat?
No, that is absurd.0 -
I think that eating breakfast helps you burn more calories throughout the day but makes no sense that just before bed calories turn to fat. Your body heals and regenerates durning sleep so needs calories for that too. I'd say eat before bed if you have calories left for it!0

Oh, I know the answer! You should always eat breakfast because otherwise you will want to eat at night before bed and get fat! Do I get a gold star? =P0 -

I saw Bob Harper (Biggest Loser Coach) on Rachel Ray and he said that if you are trying to lose wait, do not eat anything 3 hrs before you go to bed. He did warn that you will be hungry when going to bed, but it will boost weight loss. I've been doing it, and when I wake up in the morning, I work out before I eat anything. I feel like it burns more stored fat than burning cals that you have just eaten. This works for me anyways.0

I don't eat after 6-7pm most of the time closer to 6pm and I am never hungry I eat healthy and do portion control. It work for me. If you are hungry eat fruits, or veggies, maybe 1 slice of ham just to stop your cravings. By the way if you eat at 10pm what happens is that by the afternoon your metabolism is already slowed down which means that your body will not have time to burn the energy( food that you eat at 10) and this will get stuck on you, but of course it depends, how much you eat, what kind of food and how much you workout and so on. I would just follow a healthy eating habits, healthy workout schedule and not worry about so much calories and so on :P It worked for me I lost already 24 lbs total ))

There is absolutely no evidence that meal timing impacts weight loss or metabolism, all other things being equal (i.e. macros and calories for the day remain the same). That goes for evening meals and breakfasts.
There may however be an individual impact regarding the timing of meals and the likelihood of hitting said targets.0 -
I worried about that myself, until I started my weight loss program at the hospital.
Since I am up between 8-9 am and awake to almost 2am, I am scheduled to eat every 3 hours to ensure I don't get hungry. This means I have a scheduled mini meal (100 cals 10 gms protein) at midnight.
It's working for me so doctor says to eat, I eat!0 -
I think going to bed hungry us far worse than going to bed full.0
