You really do get to know your body when you work out frequently. I stressed myself out over routines for weeks. I tried a few different routines. From working out daily to giving my body a day or two of rest, working out certain muscle groups one day and others another day. I'm very happy with all of the different workouts I learned in each of those routines. But in the end, I feel like the most important thing I learned was how to listen to my body and just do what groups I think should be done on that day at the intensity I think they need. And now, I just move around my personal gym at work and do whatever I feel like doing. It feels great. I feel like my workouts are always right on the money.
However, there always seems to be something new to learn. My latest concern is my metabolism. I always assumed it was very low, and maybe it was. But it is definitely no where near low now. Maybe my 50-100 calorie snacking every 30 minutes for months straight beefed it up. Or maybe I really did just used to eat so much junk food it nullified my high metabolism. I really don't know. One thing I do know is I go through food like my best friend who thinks he may be hypoglycemic or something. He had so much trouble gaining muscle, he's pretty fit now but he has to eat so much to do anything. If he doesn't eat enough he looks like **** until he does. I'm having these same problems now... even when I eat 2500-3000 calories in a day I'm always super duper hungry. Therefore it is time for some new adventures to figure some stuff out!
In the last month I haven't gained any weight. It has literally stayed the same exact number for a month, maybe fluctuating a lb or two. Yet, I most definitely have a decent muscle mass increase. There was almost nothing on my arms before, I cardiod my way to a skeleton in a year with like a 1000 calorie deficit every day. My arms are practically double... At the same time, I've definitely lost a little fat. On what I thought would be a bulk that would add fat and muscle. 2500-3000 cals a day. So, this means it's time to test out something new with my body. I'm going to switch back to a cut so I can lose the rest of my visible fat. But this time I'm gonna do it right, gonna lift my way through the cut, with a little cardio, and watch my protein intake like a damn hawk. All so I can switch to a massive bulk. If I'm wrong, so what, I gain some visible fat back. If I'm right, then I really do have a high metabolism and that's not all bad. I'll just need to learn to eat more food. Although it was such a pain to learn to eat 2500+ with clean food and decent nutrient macro limits/goals.
It's all been such an entertaining process for me. Seeing the change in my body and understanding it better based on these changes is worth the world to me right now. I feel consumed by it all but not in a bad way. I don't care that it's taking over my life, I love it.
