Going out for Dinner...?

When I say going out for dinner, I mean, being invited to someone's house for dinner. How do you log that? Do you ask the person that cooked for a recipe? Do you just search homemade ______ and hope it's a similar recipe? This happens to me sometimes, and when it's people in my family, I usually know how they cook, but people in my boyfriends family cook differently than I do, so I never know how to log when we're invited for supper, but I always try to have a lot of calories left for it just in case!
What about you kids? What do you do?

I do the same thing. If I know I'm going out.
I'll leave 1000 calories "just in case."
It seems to work0 -
I search for a similar recipe and always choose the highest calorie option.
If my boyfriend cooks I make him tell me every ingredient he has added so I can log it!
I just allow myself some extra calories just in case0 -
I always try to find a simular option under homemade and add the highest calorie one. But I leave lots of calories just in case it could be a high cal meal.0
