Stitches :(

Hi,
I tend to get severe side stitches when I exercise after eating.
I am really having trouble coordinating my workout schedule
I only exercise 2x per day but I always seem to get the urge right after eating, I once had a friend who told me that you can just 'work through' a stitch - and I have tried but it is so sharp and painful...
It's getting annoying.
I was thinking about exercising right after getting up - when I usually have coffee... is that what other's do?
Right now I'm exercising at midnight - almost every night, it's the only time my stomach is empty enough... my husband (who is doing 30 day shred with me) is getting annoyed with this schedule and it's up to me to change things.
Any tips or tricks?
It seems to take me hours for a meal to leave my stomach - even a coffee will cause a stitch in me.

During the work week I have to work out right after work. I hit the gym 3 days a week from about 5pm - 6:30pm. The other 2 days I run. I eat lunch about 11:30am. I simply push dinner back and get my workout in before eating. I will have a small afternoon snack at some point, but generally not more than a granola bar or something of that size. If I eat and then try to workout I will get side stitch cramps like you describe, or simply get sick.
Today was a running day. Left the office at 5pm. Ate a granola bar about 6pm. Played with the dog and took him for a walk about 6:45pm. 7:40 or so I left for my run and got home 45 minutes later. Was just after 8:30 when I started cooking dinner. That's how I make it work for me.0
