So the other day i was talking to someone in my karate class who just realized that i had lost weight, the gi i wear at karate hides my body, she told my teacher who is like a father figure since i was in highschool, he said, " that is awesome, but don't loose anymore weight, you are starting to look unhealthy." I know he meant that my face is kinda big(big cheek bones and head) so loosing a bit more would make it look too thin, but it kinda discouraged me, i don't want to look unhealthy, but im not happy with my progress. I mean i already reached my goal weight and set a new one just 7 more to go, my body figure is another thing still struggling with some stubborn back fat.
My plan was that from there i want to start exercising more and toning my body more. After that i don't mind if the scale says im up 9 pounds but of muscle, i want to do this because i noticed that once the weight came off i was able too move better and my movements in class improved alot. I want to start doing competitions but i do think the more muscle i have the more controll i have, being a little heavier doesn't concern me but i want to be lean and be more confident. Should i be aiming to go lower? Or stay the same. I know i look good compare to before but would it really be that bad to loose 7 pounds more? give me your honest opinion.

  • When I was 16, I really wanted this dress for prom. They only had it in a UK size 8, and it kept falling off my bust. My mum agreed to pay for it (it wasn't cheap) if I promised to gain some weight, as she, like your karate teacher, thought I was starting to look unhealthy.

Downward spiral, and here I am at 185lbs, UK size 14/16.

I didn't feel that I looked bad, and back looking at pictures, I really didn't. I should have just gone with my instinct and continued losing (... and picked another dress lol).

Do what feels right for you: if you think another 7 is the right thing to do, go for it. If you think you should maintain and start toning, go for it. Don't let other people dictate your weight loss :)

    ^ This.

If you are staying within a healthy weight range, I would say that you should go with your gut and stick to your goals. Often people who are used to seeing you even a little bit heavier will say things like that thinking they are being helpful.
