Calorie intake - How do I know I am doing it correctly?

Hi guys & gals,
I started using MFP a few days ago and I am tracking down my calorie intake as I am aiming to shred up without loosing muscle.
I started on Wednesday - I have looked at my food intake and I am 8252 Net Calories under my weekly goal. Is it necessary for me to hit my 'Daily' calorie intake goal?
I always thought as long as I consume the minimum calories per day I'm ok?!?
