5 pounds to go

I am finally at the 5 pounds to go mark. I have been leaving my calories at 1 pound per week weight loss and eating anywhere from 100-400 calories below that on a pretty regular basis (but never going below 1800 regardless). I exercise a LOT. I run over 40 miles a week, strength train 3 days a week, and cross train (spin class) once a week. I am currently training for my first marathon.

My question is, should I change to the '1/2 pound per week option' at this point, or stick with 1 until I hit my goal? -=slightly confused=-

Why would you change to 1/2 pound per week instead?

If it is working for you, and you fell good and have enough energy for all your exercise, why change it?

I would leave it alone, finish losing the weight and than switch to maintance...

I have read some people recommend doing so and I'm honestly not sure why?

If your weight loss is good, continue on as you are.

If you want to switch your goals to performance make a change .

I have 5lbs to go and have changed from 1lb per week to 1/2lb just because I fancy eating a bit more ;) It moved me from 1200 to 1300 and something which is nice. I eat back my exercise calories so 1200 was doable but still.

I know your diary so I'm reasonable confident that you are eating plenty and unlikely to feel the need to eat a lot more. On that basis I'd say stick with what works (1lb per week) until you either hit goal or plateau.

Best wishes Pal and respect to you for your hard work and dedication.
