Under 10 and on the ledge...

For the last 5 weeks I have been doing varying, high intensity workouts 4-5x per week - cardio + strength training. I have been using MFP faithfully and have had only a few 'bad' days which included either exceeding my caloric budget, drinking wine, or both.

I was at 1200 calories/day but as of last week have increased to 1450 as I don't have much to lose, maybe my deficit was too big. I eat mostly whole grains, lean protein, veggies and healthy fats with the occasional not-so-healthy treat (ie a spoonful of ice cream) to satisfy a craving but only when I have calories left to spend. Very little refined or processed foods and have increased my water intake significantly in the last week or two as I realized I wasn't drinking enough. No alcohol for the last week and plan to continue on that way - maybe the glass of wine in the evening here & there was hindering progress.

I don't have much to lose and know the last 10 are a battle but that said, the scale is just a data point for me, Of course I'd like to see the number getting lower - encouraging and validating I'm doing the right things - but I'm working out a lot and my body composition will be changing.....What I'd really like to see is my waistline changing, the inches coming off, my clothes beginning to fit a little differently. That would be my real motivator.

I'm trying to be patient - I'm 39 now not 29, I grew this hateful muffin top prior to my pregnancy so it's been with my a while and I know will put up a fight, but seriously.... If anyone has any suggestions I'd welcome them.
And thank you for giving me a place to vent, I know hubby is getting sick of hearing about this.
I think I just need talking off ledge....

It has been my experience in the past (when I was successful losing weight) that you have to vary your workouts ALOT. Keep your body guessing. Apparently plyometrics are GREAT for this but I have a bad ankle and haven't done much. Everyone is raving about p90X, which is expensive, but it seems that everyone who does the program faithfully gets AWESOME results! For whatever that "wisdom" is worth, good luck. You can totally do it!

I had been stuck at 153 lbs and I would go up a pound then down a pound but that was it. I work out about 4 days a week doing cardio and body sculpting classes, inches was coming off but not the pounds. Started walking 3 - 6 miles just on the weekends and things started to change and now I am down to 146 lbs. I have 6 lbs left to go.........
Maybe a little change up may do the trick run, jog or take a walk it has helped me.

Thanks for the suggestions and support!

I took your advice and headed out both Saturday and Sunday morning for a run and wow, am I feeling it today. I always knew that running outside was a different experience for the muscles than the treadmill or any other indoor cardio activities but wow. Muscles are protesting that I didn't realize were in these legs, which sure shows that the varying activities will truly change up your routines and keep your body guessing. I'm going to try to continue with the running, mix that in with the strength and gym workouts.

Today is day 8 without so much as a sip of the beloved wine. I'm really hoping that adding the running and skipping the drinks will be the catalyst to getting things moving again.

Thanks again so much, good luck to you!!
